When to Book a Sacramento Pet Sitter for Thanksgiving and December
Britt: this guide is a draft built only from facts already on your site. Rewrite it in your own words, fill in the pink notes, then publish it in October. The short answer
Book as soon as you know your dates. Holidays are the first nights to fill on my calendar every year. If your plans aren't final, I can hold tentative dates for up to two weeks. New to BRITT SITS? Request your complimentary meet & greet now, so we've met before the rush.
2026 holiday dates at a glance
| Holiday | Date | Request by |
|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thursday, November 26 | Britt: your date |
| Christmas Eve & Christmas | Thursday–Friday, December 24–25 | Britt: your date |
| New Year's Eve & Day | Thursday–Friday, December 31–January 1 | Britt: your date |
Why holidays fill first
BRITT SITS books up quickly, especially during weekends, holidays and peak travel seasons. Everyone travels on the same handful of nights, and I can only stay in one home each night. That's what makes in-home care special, and it's also why holiday overnights go first.
Not sure of your exact dates yet?
No problem! Tentative dates can be held for up to two weeks while you finalize your travel plans. This gives you a little breathing room without losing your spot on the calendar.
New client? Start with a meet & greet
All new clients receive a complimentary meet & greet before their first booking. It's a chance for me to meet you and your pets, learn their routines and care needs, and make sure everyone feels comfortable before you leave. For the holidays, schedule it early. Once we've met, booking your dates is quick.
If my overnights are already full
The calendar shows availability for overnight pet sitting. Drop-in visits, dog walking and other services may still be available on dates marked as booked, depending on location and scheduling. Ask me. For many pets, two or three visits a day work beautifully.

Before you leave: a holiday checklist
- Food portioned or measured out, plus a few extra days in case your flight changes
- Medications with written doses and times, and enough to cover the trip
- Your pet profile up to date: routines, vet, and an emergency contact nearby
- Keys and access arranged with me in person, never by email or text
- Holiday treats, decorations and wrapping kept out of reach; ask your vet what's unsafe for your pets
- Your travel dates and the best way to reach you
